Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a Japanese massage therapy that promotes health and healing through correcting imbalances in energy. It is used to maintain health instead of treating a specific illness. Shiatsu follows the same principles as many forms of traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture and tai chi.

Shiatsu is used to bring energy to areas of the body that need energy and release energy from areas that are blocked. Shiatsu relieves pain by initiating endorphin release. It can also decrease adrenaline and other stress related hormones, thereby stimulating relaxation. Therapists use fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure.

Shiatsu can be used to relieve arthritis pain, back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain. It can also help those suffering from headaches, muscle tension, insomnia, and cramps, as well as asthma, constipation, and nausea.
