Pain Management

Pain Management

Pain management is used to help control chronic pain – pain that has continued longer than the expected tissue healing time of three to six months and has not responded to medical treatment.

Early warnings that indicate you may need specialized help in managing your pain include frequent visits to a doctor due to pain, missing work due to pain, decreased ability to function, poor sleep patterns, and mood changes.

Goals of pain management include a reduction in pain, measurable improvement in physical functioning, reduction of pain medications, and improvement of stress management and coping skills.
