Myofascial release is a combination of stretching and massage therapy techniques with the purpose of promoting healing and relieving pain. The goal of myofascial release therapy is to free constrictions of the fascia (connecting tissues that link every organ and tissue in the body) in order to remove issues regarding connective tissue scarring or injury. Myofascial release therapy is used to help patients with poor posture, physical injury, illness, and emotional stress, as well as many other ailments. This hands-on therapy helps free tensions on bones, muscles, joints, and nerves. The end result is a balanced body with circulation and nervous system transmission.

In myofascial release therapy, the fascia are gently kneaded in a manner that softens, tenderly stretches, lengthens, and realigns it. The therapist will gently stretch the fascia until a release is noticed. This is repeated until a patient is relieved of tension.
