Deep Tissue Therapy

Deep Tissue Therapy

Deep tissue therapy is meant to reach deeper areas of the muscles than other forms of massage. The therapy is performed using slow strokes and direct pressure. Fingers, thumbs, and elbows are primarily used to release muscle tension.

The theory behind deep tissue therapy is that physical stress, emotional stress, and gravity can create alignment issues and cause muscles and connective tissue to become stiff. Through the use of intense pressure and stroking with knuckles, knees, elbows, and fingers, a therapist stretches tissues back to their correct shapes and releases tension and stress that is imbedded deeply in the body.
